Wholesale onion prices in Nashik have fallen to approximately ₹46 per kg from ₹55, driven by increased arrivals of fresh kharif onions from Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh. These new supplies are preferred by buyers, including exporters, over Nashik onions. Imported onions from Egypt have also contributed to the price drop at Lasalgaon, the country's largest onion market. Despite the wholesale price decrease, retail rates remain high at around ₹65 per kg, partly due to wastage and damage incurred at the retail level.
