Himachal HC Halts Forest Road Construction Over Law Violations

The Himachal Pradesh High Court has halted the construction and tarring of forest roads in Seraj assembly constituency, Mandi district, due to alleged violations of forest conservation laws. A court-appointed amicus curiae identified 55 roads built without required forest clearances, with proposals still pending. The court also noted the presence of 16 helipads in forest areas and concerns over wildlife disturbance and tree felling.

हिमाचल प्रदेश हाई कोर्ट ने सेराज विधानसभा क्षेत्र, मंडी जिले में जंगल की सड़कों के निर्माण और तारकोल बिछाने पर रोक लगा दी है। आरोप है कि जंगल संरक्षण कानूनों का उल्लंघन हुआ है। कोर्ट द्वारा नियुक्त एक एमिकस क्यूरी ने 55 ऐसी सड़कें पहचानी हैं जो ज़रूरी वन मंजूरी के बिना बनाई गई थीं, और जिनके प्रस्ताव अभी भी लंबित हैं। कोर्ट ने जंगल इलाकों में 16 हेलीपैड की मौजूदगी और वन्यजीवों को परेशानी तथा पेड़ काटने की चिंताओं पर भी ध्यान दिया।
