IFS Officer Flags Grave Conflict of Interest in Uttarakhand Forest Postings

Senior IFS officer Sanjiv Chaturvedi has requested the withdrawal of two Uttarakhand government orders concerning forest department postings. He alleges these violate cadre rules and create conflicts between administrative, commercial, and regulatory responsibilities. Chaturvedi specifically cited the dual role of Neena Grewal as principal chief conservator of forests (wildlife) and managing director of the Uttarakhand Forest Development Corporation, a commercial entity. He also raised concerns about an officer overseeing wildlife projects while also assessing their legality, referencing past Supreme Court cases.

वरिष्ठ IFS अधिकारी संजीव चतुर्वेदी ने वन विभाग की पोस्टिंग से संबंधित उत्तराखंड सरकार के दो आदेशों को वापस लेने का अनुरोध किया है। उन्होंने आरोप लगाया है कि ये कैडर नियमों का उल्लंघन करते हैं और प्रशासनिक, वाणिज्यिक और नियामक जिम्मेदारियों के बीच टकराव पैदा करते हैं। चतुर्वेदी ने विशेष रूप से नीना ग्रेवाल की प्रधान मुख्य वन संरक्षक (वन्यजीव) और उत्तराखंड वन विकास निगम, एक वाणिज्यिक इकाई के प्रबंध निदेशक के रूप में दोहरी भूमिका का उल्लेख किया। उन्होंने एक अधिकारी द्वारा वन्यजीव परियोजनाओं की निगरानी करने और साथ ही उनकी वैधता का आकलन करने के बारे में भी चिंता जताई, जिसका संदर्भ पिछले Supreme Court मामलों में दिया गया है।
