Theatre personality Addanda Cariappa had his face smeared with ink by protesters during a play on Mahatma Gandhi's assassination in Bengaluru on Saturday. The protesters objected to the play's portrayal of Gandhi, accusing Cariappa of spreading misinformation and depicting him as "anti-national" and a "slave of Muslims." They also alleged the play blamed Congress and Gandhi for the Partition and involved black market ticket sales. A complaint was filed with the Banashankari police seeking legal action against Cariappa and others involved in the staging.
