The ED alleges that a significant portion of funds used for the university's construction and development lacked a legitimate source. Investigations were initiated based on 26 FIRs alleging forced land acquisition from farmers and illegal occupation of enemy property.

प्रवर्तन निदेशालय (ED) ने रामपुर, उत्तर प्रदेश में मौलाना मोहम्मद अली जौहर यूनिवर्सिटी की जमीन और इमारतों को 426.46 करोड़ रुपये में कुर्क किया है। यह कार्रवाई PMLA के तहत जौहर ट्रस्ट, पूर्व मंत्री आजम खान और अन्य से जुड़े एक मामले में की गई है। ED का आरोप है कि यूनिवर्सिटी के निर्माण और विकास में इस्तेमाल किए गए फंड का एक बड़ा हिस्सा अवैध स्रोतों से आया था। किसानों से जबरन जमीन अधिग्रहण और शत्रु संपत्ति पर अवैध कब्जे के आरोपों वाली 26 FIR के आधार पर जांच शुरू की गई थी।
