Euro Hits 17-Month Low Against Dollar Amid Inflation and Political Uncertainty
Economic Times Markets · stocks
The euro has fallen to its lowest point in 17 months against the dollar, dropping below $1.13. This decline is attributed to a combination of rising inflation, higher energy prices, and mounting political uncertainty in Europe, including upcoming elections and regional political shifts. Despite the European Central Bank hiking interest rates, the euro has struggled to gain traction. Global bond markets have also experienced significant declines, pushing yields higher and adding to the pressure on European assets. The US dollar, meanwhile, has seen consistent gains.
