Mother Alleges Theni Jail Warders Beat 17 Recaptured Escapees

A mother has approached the Madras High Court alleging that prison warders severely beat 17 inmates after their recapture. Her sons were among the prisoners who escaped from Theni district jail on October 26, 2026, and were apprehended within 42 hours. The High Court ordered a medical examination for her sons and two other named inmates. The Tamil Nadu State Legal Services Authority has also ordered an inquiry into the alleged torture of the inmates following the escape.

एक माँ ने मद्रास हाई कोर्ट में अर्जी दी है। उनका आरोप है कि जेल के वार्डनों ने 17 कैदियों को पकड़ने के बाद बुरी तरह पीटा। उनके बेटे उन कैदियों में से थे जो 26 अक्टूबर 2026 को थेनी जिले की जेल से भागे थे। उन्हें 42 घंटे के अंदर पकड़ लिया गया था। हाई कोर्ट ने उनके बेटों और दो अन्य कैदियों की मेडिकल जांच का आदेश दिया है। तमिलनाडु स्टेट लीगल सर्विसेज अथॉरिटी ने भी कैदियों की कथित पिटाई की जांच के आदेश दिए हैं।
