Supreme Court Refuses CBI Probe Into UP Political Parties' Ticket Sale Allegations

The Supreme Court on Tuesday refused to entertain a plea seeking a CBI investigation into alleged sale of tickets by unrecognised political parties in Uttar Pradesh. The plea, filed by Swaraj Vahini Association, referred to sting operations shared on social media. The Allahabad High Court had previously dismissed a similar Public Interest Litigation on the matter. The apex court granted the petitioner liberty to approach the Election Commission with their representation, expressing confidence that the poll panel would address the grievances.

सुप्रीम कोर्ट ने मंगलवार को उत्तर प्रदेश में गैर-मान्यता प्राप्त राजनीतिक दलों द्वारा कथित तौर पर टिकट बेचने की सीबीआई जांच की मांग करने वाली याचिका पर सुनवाई करने से इनकार कर दिया। स्वराज वाहिनी एसोसिएशन द्वारा दायर इस याचिका में सोशल मीडिया पर साझा किए गए स्टिंग ऑपरेशन का जिक्र किया गया था। इससे पहले इलाहाबाद हाई कोर्ट ने इसी तरह की एक जनहित याचिका को खारिज कर दिया था। शीर्ष अदालत ने याचिकाकर्ता को अपनी शिकायत के साथ चुनाव आयोग से संपर्क करने की स्वतंत्रता दी, और विश्वास व्यक्त किया कि चुनाव आयोग शिकायतों का समाधान करेगा।
