Ganga Canal Closure To Affect Water Supply To 20 Lakh Homes In Ghaziabad, Noida

Over 20 lakh residents in Ghaziabad and Noida will face water supply disruptions as the Upper Ganga Canal is shut for annual desilting. The closure, scheduled to, is necessary to remove silt deposits that impede water flow. The irrigation department will desilt 195 km of the canal and also conduct safety work at Chhota Haridwar. UP Jal Nigam operates three water treatment plants that rely on this canal. Authorities plan to use borewells and deploy water tankers to mitigate the impact on affected areas.

गाजियाबाद और नोएडा में 20 लाख से ज़्यादा लोगों को पानी की सप्लाई में दिक्कत होगी क्योंकि ऊपरी गंगा नहर की सालाना सफाई के लिए उसे बंद कर दिया गया है। यह बंद ज़रूरी है ताकि गाद को हटाया जा सके जो पानी के बहाव को रोकता है। सिंचाई विभाग नहर के 195 किमी हिस्से की सफाई करेगा और छोटा हरिद्वार में सुरक्षा का काम भी करेगा। यूपी जल निगम के तीन वाटर ट्रीटमेंट प्लांट इसी नहर पर निर्भर करते हैं। अधिकारी प्रभावित इलाकों पर असर कम करने के लिए बोरवेल का इस्तेमाल करने और पानी के टैंकर तैनात करने की योजना बना रहे हैं।
