Denmark's foreign ministry stated that any US resource exploration in Greenland must adhere to the Arctic island's existing legislation. This clarification follows US President Donald Trump's announcement of "massive oil, gas and mineral exploration" set to begin. Denmark emphasized that a recent security deal with the US and Greenland does not grant American investors preferential treatment for accessing natural resources. Greenland itself has banned new crude oil exploration since 2021, though it is reviewing permits predating this ban.
