Bihar Women's Education Film Wins UN SDG Award in Creativity Category

A documentary titled 'Mothers of Courage,' highlighting a Bihar-based women-led movement against child marriage and for girls' education, has won the United Nations SDG Action Award 2026 in the Creativity category. The film received the honour in Rome, recognizing a community initiative that has mobilized over 11.9 lakh people across rural India. Selected from over 7,000 entries, it chronicles the Shikshagraha movement and the efforts of women leaders. The campaign has organized numerous 'Shiksha Chaupals' to address barriers to girls' education and prevent dropouts and child marriage.

'मदर्स ऑफ करेज' नाम की एक डॉक्यूमेंट्री, जिसमें बाल विवाह के खिलाफ और लड़कियों की शिक्षा के लिए बिहार स्थित महिला-नेतृत्व वाले आंदोलन को दिखाया गया है, ने संयुक्त राष्ट्र SDG एक्शन अवार्ड 2026 क्रिएटिविटी श्रेणी में जीता है। इस फिल्म को रोम में यह सम्मान मिला, जो एक सामुदायिक पहल को मान्यता देता है जिसने ग्रामीण भारत में 11.9 लाख से अधिक लोगों को संगठित किया है। 7,000 से अधिक प्रविष्टियों में से चुनी गई यह फिल्म, 'शिक्षाग्रह' आंदोलन और महिला नेताओं के प्रयासों का वर्णन करती है। इस अभियान ने लड़कियों की शिक्षा में आने वाली बाधाओं को दूर करने और स्कूल छोड़ने व बाल विवाह को रोकने के लिए कई 'शिक्षा चौपाल' आयोजित किए हैं।
