Student and Youth Groups Demand Scrapping of Electoral Roll Revision

Members of the All India Democratic Students’ Organisation (AIDSO) and All India Democratic Youth Organisation (AIDYO) protested in Kalaburagi, demanding the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls be scrapped. They also called for the removal of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. Protesters accused the Election Commission of favouring the BJP-led government and expressed concerns that the revision process could lead to arbitrary deletion of eligible voters, thereby undermining democratic rights. They highlighted that two Election Commissioners had raised objections on record multiple times regarding the revision exercise.

ऑल इंडिया डेमोक्रेटिक स्टूडेंट्स’ ऑर्गनाइजेशन (AIDSO) और ऑल इंडिया डेमोक्रेटिक यूथ ऑर्गनाइजेशन (AIDYO) के सदस्यों ने कलाबुरागी में विरोध प्रदर्शन कर मतदाता सूची के विशेष गहन संशोधन (SIR) को रद्द करने की मांग की। उन्होंने मुख्य चुनाव आयुक्त ज्ञानेश कुमार को हटाने की भी मांग की। प्रदर्शनकारियों ने चुनाव आयोग पर भाजपा-नीत सरकार का पक्ष लेने का आरोप लगाया और चिंता जताई कि संशोधन प्रक्रिया से योग्य मतदाताओं के मनमाने ढंग से नाम हटाए जा सकते हैं, जिससे लोकतांत्रिक अधिकारों का हनन होगा। उन्होंने इस बात पर जोर दिया कि दो चुनाव आयुक्तों ने कई बार संशोधन अभ्यास पर आपत्ति दर्ज की थी।
