Several devotees participating in the procession were electrocuted by an 11,000-volt power line near Khatouri village. Two children lost their lives instantly, while over a dozen others sustained burn injuries. The incident caused panic and grief in the area. Locals have accused the electricity department of negligence, citing the low-hanging power lines as the cause of the accident. The injured children are receiving medical treatment.

बिहार के पश्चिम चंपारण में नवरात्रि के पहले दिन कलश यात्रा के दौरान एक दुखद घटना हुई। खतौरी गांव के पास 11,000 वोल्ट की बिजली लाइन की चपेट में आने से जुलूस में शामिल कई श्रद्धालु करंट से झुलस गए। दो बच्चों की मौके पर ही मौत हो गई, जबकि एक दर्जन से ज़्यादा लोग झुलस गए। इस घटना से इलाके में अफरा-तफरी और मातम का माहौल है। स्थानीय लोगों ने बिजली विभाग पर लापरवाही का आरोप लगाया है, उनका कहना है कि नीचे लटकी बिजली की तारों के कारण यह हादसा हुआ। घायल बच्चों का इलाज चल रहा है।
