The Supreme Court has ordered that people be allowed to move freely, subject to traffic regulations, during protests. This directive came in response to a contempt petition alleging defiance of a previous order concerning movement and assembly at Jantar Mantar. The court heard that Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan, Delhi Police Commissioner Anurag Kumar, and Delhi Metro Rail Corporation chairperson D Thara may have defied the order. Security personnel had detained protesters demanding the resignation of the Chief Election Commissioner over alleged voter roll irregularities.
