Rupee Near 96/USD Amid RBI Intervention
Economic Times Markets · stocks
The Indian rupee declined 0.1% to 95.95 per dollar on Monday, narrowly avoiding a fall past the 96 mark due to intervention by the Reserve Bank of India. This action mirrors previous market interventions aimed at stabilizing the currency. Rising oil prices, driven by geopolitical tensions between the US and Iran, contributed to the rupee's weakness. India, heavily reliant on crude imports, faces significant vulnerability to such price shocks. The RBI's efforts have maintained subdued volatility expectations for the rupee.
