Tribal Woman Killed by Tiger Near Bandipur Tiger Reserve; Forest Dept. Investigates

A 45-year-old tribal shepherd, Machamma, was killed by a tiger near the Doranakatte Tribal Colony in Mysuru district on Wednesday. She was grazing livestock near the Bandipur Tiger Reserve when the attack occurred. Forest officials recovered her body and have cautioned residents of the nearby colony, home to about 85 tribal families. A combing operation and drone search are underway. The Forest Department has provided ₹5 lakh in compensation, with an additional ₹15 lakh pending the post-mortem report.
