Foreign Medical Graduates interning at Telangana government hospitals were detained by Hyderabad police on Thursday during a protest outside the Directorate of Medical Education office. Approximately 91 protesters were taken into preventive custody and later released, as demonstrations were not permitted at the location. The FMGs are demanding stipend parity with Indian Medical Graduates, citing a National Medical Commission notice, which supports equal stipends for certain FMGs. They have been raising this issue for a month, seeking equal pay for equal work.
