The Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply & Sewerage Board has successfully reduced treated drinking water wastage by 18 million gallons per day during maintenance of the Krishna drinking water supply network. This was achieved by creating an interconnection between main pipelines at the Nasarlapally pumping station. During a recent shutdown, 80% of available water was diverted, significantly reducing scouring time from 20 to eight hours. This shorter shutdown also led to an estimated saving of ₹5 lakh in electricity costs.
