Farm Groups Reject Rabi MSP Hike, Call Wheat Increase An Insult

Times of India · india

Farmer organisations under the Samyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM) have rejected the government's announced Minimum Support Prices (MSPs) for Rabi crops for 2027-28. They deem the Rs 25-per-quintal hike for wheat, equivalent to just 25 paise per kilogram, an insult. The SKM demands an immediate revision of MSPs for all Rabi crops and freedom for states to offer bonuses. They also highlighted that increased input costs like diesel were ignored, questioning the government's claim of 106% profit over production costs.
