Mumbai BMC Rejects Rs 8.3 Crore Road Washing Proposal Amid Water Shortage

Times of India · environment

Mumbai's standing committee has rejected a proposal to spend Rs 8.3 crore on washing 677 km of city roads to combat air pollution. The decision comes amid a 10% water cut due to low water stocks in the city's dams. Committee members cited the critical water situation and questioned the availability of non-potable water for the project. They suggested exploring alternative dust control measures and improving infrastructure for sewage water treatment instead of using precious water resources.
