World Nations Lagging UN Biodiversity Protection Goals

World governments are significantly behind schedule to meet the UN's 2030 target of protecting 30% of land and sea. Current estimates show only 20% of land and inland waters are protected, with oceans lagging at just 10%. Even with full commitments, ocean protection may only reach 12% by 2030. A substantial funding gap exists, with only $24 billion spent annually against a needed $100-180 billion. The UN biodiversity summit in Yerevan will address this shortfall.
