UN: Nicaragua Govt Responsible For 8 Deaths

Nicaraguan authorities are responsible for at least eight deaths in custody since 2018, according to a UN report. The U.N. Group of Human Rights Experts on Nicaragua condemned the government of Daniel Ortega and Rosario Murillo for crushing dissent. The report detailed inconsistencies in the government's explanation for the death of Indigenous leader Brooklyn Rivera. Experts called for the government to release information on 29 disappeared individuals and anyone detained on political grounds.
