JNU Dismisses Professor Angomcha Bimol Akoijam Over Sexual Harassment Allegations

Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) has dismissed Professor Angomcha Bimol Akoijam following an inquiry into sexual harassment allegations. At least 10 students accused the professor, who taught at the Centre for the Study of Social Systems. The university's Internal Committee investigated the complaints, which included claims of inappropriate advances at his residence and lewd remarks in class. Based on the committee's findings, JNU issued an order on October 9 imposing the punishment of dismissal from service. The allegations reportedly prompted senior students to come forward with similar complaints.

जवाहरलाल नेहरू विश्वविद्यालय (जेएनयू) ने यौन उत्पीड़न के आरोपों की जांच के बाद प्रोफेसर अंगोमचा बिमोल अकोइजम को बर्खास्त कर दिया है। कम से कम 10 छात्रों ने प्रोफेसर पर आरोप लगाया था, जो सेंटर फॉर द स्टडी ऑफ सोशल सिस्टम्स में पढ़ाते थे। विश्वविद्यालय की आंतरिक समिति ने शिकायतों की जांच की, जिसमें उनके आवास पर अनुचित हावभाव और कक्षा में अश्लील टिप्पणियों के दावे शामिल थे। समिति के निष्कर्षों के आधार पर, जेएनयू ने 9 अक्टूबर को सेवा से बर्खास्तगी की सजा का आदेश जारी किया। कथित तौर पर इन आरोपों के कारण वरिष्ठ छात्रों ने भी इसी तरह की शिकायतें कीं।
