UP Court Sentences Man to Life Imprisonment for Raping 8-Year-Old Dalit Girl

A special Pocso court in Mainpuri, Uttar Pradesh, has sentenced a 26-year-old man to rigorous life imprisonment for the 2023 rape of an eight-year-old Dalit girl. The court also imposed a Rs 1 lakh fine on the convict. The minor survivor identified her tormentor from photographs, leading to his arrest. The accused had attempted to evade capture by altering his appearance. The court ordered that the convict remain in prison for the rest of his natural life, also recommending compensation for the victim's mother.

उत्तर प्रदेश के मैनपुरी में एक विशेष Pocso कोर्ट ने 2023 में आठ साल की दलित बच्ची से रेप करने के दोषी 26 वर्षीय व्यक्ति को कठोर आजीवन कारावास की सज़ा सुनाई है। कोर्ट ने दोषी पर 1 लाख रुपये का जुर्माना भी लगाया। नाबालिग पीड़िता ने तस्वीरों से अपने दरिंदे को पहचाना, जिससे उसकी गिरफ्तारी हुई। आरोपी ने अपना हुलिया बदलकर भागने की कोशिश की थी। कोर्ट ने आदेश दिया कि दोषी अपनी बाकी की प्राकृतिक ज़िंदगी जेल में बिताएगा, और पीड़िता की माँ को मुआवज़ा देने की भी सिफ़ारिश की।
