Owaisi Slams Union Govt. For Scrapping Scholarships, Cites Muslim Education Gaps
The Hindu · india
Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi has strongly criticised the Union government for discontinuing pre-matric, post-matric, and merit-cum-means scholarships, calling it an injustice to students. He highlighted significant dropout rates and educational access gaps within the Muslim community, citing data from 2014 indicating 15% of Muslim children did not attend school. Owaisi pointed out that despite Muslims being 14% of the population, their representation in higher education drops significantly. He attributed these disparities to a lack of financial resources, unsafe environments for girls, and the absence of schools in many villages.
