Passport Regulates Departure, Not Citizenship: MEA

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) clarified that a passport, issued under the Passports Act, 1967, primarily regulates the departure of Indian citizens from the country. It is not a determinant of citizenship itself. This clarification comes after recent remarks by government officials regarding the travel document.
