Odisha DGP: Balianta Police Arrested Innocent Men Under Pressure in Lynch Case

Odisha's in-charge DGP Vinaytosh Mishra stated that Balianta police acted under pressure, arresting innocent individuals in the mob lynching case of railway constable Soumya Ranjan Swain. The crime branch, currently investigating, found these individuals to be innocent and did not include them in the chargesheet. Initially, 20 men were arrested, but the crime branch later filed charges against 11 accused based on oral evidence and other materials. Four police personnel were suspended and the inspector in-charge transferred following the May 7 incident.
