Highway Businesses Challenge NHAI Demolitions in Gujarat HC

Owners of highway businesses in south Gujarat have approached the Gujarat High Court to halt demolition drives by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) along NH-48. These businesses, including hotels and restaurants in Valsad, Navsari, and Surat districts, received notices in July to remove alleged encroachments. Petitioners argue they are lawful landowners with necessary approvals and seek time to appeal to the Supreme Court. NHAI contends it is complying with Supreme Court orders on highway safety, which mandate encroachment removal.
