HC Seeks Charkhi Dadri DC Report on Aravalli Mining Site Legality

The Punjab and Haryana High Court has directed the Charkhi Dadri Deputy Commissioner to clarify if a mining site falls within the protected Aravalli Hills and if commercial extraction is legally permissible. This directive came during a hearing on a petition challenging mining rights granted to a private contractor. While the DC previously stated operations comply with rules, a drone survey report prima facie indicated the area is part of the Aravalli Hills, surrounded by forest cover. The court noted significant public interest issues warranting careful consideration.

पंजाब और हरियाणा हाई कोर्ट ने चरखी दादरी के डिप्टी कमिश्नर को यह स्पष्ट करने का निर्देश दिया है कि क्या कोई खनन स्थल संरक्षित अरावली पहाड़ियों के भीतर आता है और क्या व्यावसायिक निष्कर्षण कानूनी रूप से अनुमेय है। यह निर्देश एक निजी ठेकेदार को दिए गए खनन अधिकारों को चुनौती देने वाली याचिका पर सुनवाई के दौरान आया। जबकि डीसी ने पहले कहा था कि संचालन नियमों का अनुपालन करते हैं, एक ड्रोन सर्वेक्षण रिपोर्ट ने प्रथम दृष्टया संकेत दिया कि क्षेत्र अरावली पहाड़ियों का हिस्सा है, जो जंगल से घिरा हुआ है। अदालत ने नोट किया कि महत्वपूर्ण सार्वजनिक हित के मुद्दे हैं जिन पर सावधानीपूर्वक विचार करने की आवश्यकता है।
