Cabinet secretary T.V. Somanathan has directed ministries and departments to identify cases that can be withdrawn following the decriminalisation of offences under the Jan Vishwas Act and the removal of obsolete legal provisions. Currently, over 3.5 lakh cases involving the central government are pending for more than five years, with the revenue department having the highest number.
