Ex-DGP Thachankary Gets 4 Years Jail

A Vigilance court in Kottayam has sentenced former DGP Tomin J. Thachankary to four years of rigorous imprisonment and a fine of ₹30.84 lakh in a disproportionate assets case. The long legal battle, initiated by Alappuzha-based complainant Bobby Kuruvila in 1990, has continued for 36 years. Despite the conviction, the complainant vowed to pursue further action, stating the fight is not over. Thachankary has appealed the verdict in the Kerala High Court.

कोट्टयम की विजिलेंस कोर्ट ने पूर्व डीजीपी टॉमिन जे. थचानकारी को आय से अधिक संपत्ति के मामले में चार साल की कड़ी कैद और ₹30.84 लाख जुर्माने की सजा सुनाई है। यह मामला 1990 में शुरू हुआ था और 36 साल से चल रहा है। थचानकारी ने इस फैसले के खिलाफ केरल हाई कोर्ट में अपील की है। शिकायतकर्ता ने कहा कि उनकी लड़ाई अभी खत्म नहीं हुई है।
