Indian stock markets experienced a significant downturn for the second consecutive day, pushing the Sensex and Nifty close to their six-month lows. The Sensex dropped over 600 points, while the Nifty also saw a substantial decline. This market pressure is attributed to rising crude oil prices, which impact India's economy as a major importer, and an uptick in US Treasury yields. Foreign institutional investors offloaded shares worth approximately ₹53.53 billion, marking their largest sale in four weeks, exacerbating the selloff.
