Cyclone Arnab Rain Kills 35 Tonnes of Fish in Koderma Reservoir

Cyclone Arnab-induced continuous rain has caused significant losses for fish farmers at Koderma's Panchkhero reservoir. Persistent cloud cover led to reduced dissolved oxygen levels in fish cages, resulting in the mass mortality of nearly 35 tonnes of fish, with losses estimated at around Rs 1 crore. Around 40 to 50 local farmers depend on this cage-based fish farming for their livelihood. The district fisheries officer explained that reduced sunlight and oxygen levels caused the fish to suffocate. Farmers are seeking compensation and long-term safeguards for their aquaculture economy.

चक्रवात अर्नाब से प्रेरित लगातार बारिश ने कोडरमा के पंचखेरो जलाशय में मछली पालकों को भारी नुकसान पहुंचाया है। लगातार बादल छाए रहने से मछली के पिंजरों में घुली हुई ऑक्सीजन का स्तर कम हो गया, जिससे लगभग 35 टन मछलियों की बड़े पैमाने पर मौत हो गई, और नुकसान का अनुमान लगभग 1 करोड़ रुपये है। लगभग 40 से 50 स्थानीय किसान अपनी आजीविका के लिए इस पिंजरा-आधारित मछली पालन पर निर्भर हैं। जिला मत्स्य अधिकारी ने बताया कि सूरज की रोशनी और ऑक्सीजन के स्तर में कमी से मछलियां दम घुटने से मर गईं। किसान मुआवजे और अपनी जलीय कृषि अर्थव्यवस्था के लिए दीर्घकालिक सुरक्षा की मांग कर रहे हैं।
