SC Upholds Patta Cancellation Over TN Water Body, Orders Alternative Site For 20 Flat Owners

The Supreme Court has upheld the cancellation of a 'ryotwari patta' granted over land designated as a government water body in Tamil Nadu's Tiruvallur district. While affirming the cancellation, the court directed the state government to provide a suitable alternative site for the 20 flat owners before any demolition. The bench noted that the flat owners were led to believe the land was available for development, and demolition without considering their hardship would cause irreparable financial injury.

सुप्रीम कोर्ट ने तमिलनाडु के तिरुवल्लूर जिले में सरकारी जल निकाय के रूप में नामित भूमि पर दिए गए 'रैयतवारी पट्टे' को रद्द करने के फैसले को बरकरार रखा है। रद्द करने की पुष्टि करते हुए, अदालत ने राज्य सरकार को किसी भी विध्वंस से पहले 20 फ्लैट मालिकों के लिए एक उपयुक्त वैकल्पिक स्थल प्रदान करने का निर्देश दिया। पीठ ने कहा कि फ्लैट मालिकों को यह विश्वास दिलाया गया था कि भूमि विकास के लिए उपलब्ध है, और उनकी कठिनाई पर विचार किए बिना विध्वंस से अपरिवर्तनीय वित्तीय क्षति होगी।
