ECI Won't Hold Khairatabad Bypoll Until Election Petition is Decided

The Election Commission of India (ECI) has informed the Telangana high court that it will not issue a notification for a by-election to the Khairatabad Assembly constituency. This decision comes as a pending election petition needs to be resolved. The seat became vacant after MLA Danam Nagender was disqualified by the high court. A Congress leader, P Vijaya Reddy, who was the runner-up in the previous election, filed the petition. The ECI assured the court that the seat would not be declared a casual vacancy until the petition is adjudicated.

भारत के चुनाव आयोग (ECI) ने तेलंगाना उच्च न्यायालय को सूचित किया है कि वे खैराताबाद विधानसभा सीट के लिए उपचुनाव की अधिसूचना जारी नहीं करेंगे। यह फैसला इसलिए लिया गया है क्योंकि एक लंबित चुनाव याचिका का समाधान होना बाकी है। उच्च न्यायालय द्वारा विधायक दानम नागेंद्र को अयोग्य ठहराए जाने के बाद यह सीट खाली हो गई थी। कांग्रेस नेता पी. विजया रेड्डी, जो पिछले चुनाव में उपविजेता थीं, ने यह याचिका दायर की थी। ECI ने अदालत को आश्वासन दिया है कि याचिका पर फैसला आने तक इस सीट को आकस्मिक रिक्ति घोषित नहीं किया जाएगा।
