In a significant political shift, the Samajwadi Party has fielded Sanjayan Tripathi from the Gorakhpur-Faizabad teachers’ constituency for the upcoming legislative council elections. Tripathi, who had recently resigned from the BJP after being denied a ticket, joined the SP and was declared their candidate. This move comes after the BJP decided to field sitting MLC Dhruv Kumar Tripathi from the same seat, prompting Sanjayan Tripathi to rebel and initially plan an independent run. The SP had previously named Kamlesh Yadav as its nominee before changing its candidate.
