The Indian Coast Guard successfully rescued the foreign chemical tanker 'MT Seagull 9' approximately 37 nautical miles off Paradip, Odisha. The vessel, flying the Belize flag, was carrying 9,000 metric tons of palm oil and had 23 crew members onboard when its engine failed, causing it to list dangerously. Coast Guard teams boarded the tanker and used special pumps to remove ballast water, repaired damaged pipelines, and stabilized the ship, averting a potential sinking. The tanker has since been towed to an anchorage area near Paradip.
