Renowned interventional cardiologist Dr Shirish Hiremath passed away at his Pune residence on Thursday night at the age of 75 after a brief illness. A pioneer in his field, Dr Hiremath dedicated over four decades to advancing cardiac care, performing over 40,000 angioplasties and one lakh angiographies. He also served as president of the Cardiological Society of India and chairperson of the National Intervention Council. His contributions significantly shaped interventional cardiology in India, and he is remembered for his mentorship, kindness, and dedication to patient welfare.

जाने-माने इंटरवेंशनल कार्डियोलॉजिस्ट डॉ. शिरीष हिरेमठ का गुरुवार रात पुणे स्थित उनके आवास पर 75 साल की उम्र में संक्षिप्त बीमारी के बाद निधन हो गया। अपने क्षेत्र के एक अग्रणी व्यक्ति, डॉ. हिरेमठ ने हृदय देखभाल को आगे बढ़ाने के लिए चार दशक से अधिक समय समर्पित किया, 40,000 से अधिक एंजियोप्लास्टी और एक लाख एंजियोग्राफी की। उन्होंने कार्डियोलॉजिकल सोसाइटी ऑफ इंडिया के अध्यक्ष और नेशनल इंटरवेंशन काउंसिल के अध्यक्ष के रूप में भी कार्य किया। उनके योगदान ने भारत में इंटरवेंशनल कार्डियोलॉजी को महत्वपूर्ण रूप से आकार दिया, और उन्हें उनके मार्गदर्शन, दयालुता और रोगी कल्याण के प्रति समर्पण के लिए याद किया जाता है।
