The Karnataka High Court has observed that Vijay Mallya's flamboyant lifestyle is delaying the settlement of loan recovery proceedings against Kingfisher Airlines. A Division Bench noted that personal vanity and excessive indulgence hinder financial prudence, leading to ruin. The court granted relief to Diageo in a dispute over United Breweries Limited shares pledged for a loan. Banks have already recovered ₹14,131.6 crore against the ₹6,203 crore loan, and the court stated the banks are not justified in claiming the UBL shares.
