The central government has directed all hospitals and clinics to clearly display their treatment charges, including those for blood tests and X-rays. Union Health Secretary has written to chief secretaries of states and union territories to implement this. The aim is to provide patients with upfront cost information, reducing disputes over hospital bills. This directive also applies to treatment packages for foreign patients arriving on medical or AYUSH visas. While final bills may vary due to complexity and duration of stay, clear display of rates is mandated.
