Tax Tribunal Rules On Wife's Card Expenses

The Income Tax Appellate Tribunal (ITAT) Mumbai has granted partial relief to a businessman, ruling that business travel expenses paid via his wife's credit card and subsequently reimbursed are not automatically disallowable. The tax department had disallowed Rs 6.42 lakh of expenses incurred on his wife's card for business trips to Paris and Russia. The tribunal stated there is no legal bar against using a spouse's card for business expenses, provided reimbursement occurs.

मुंबई की इनकम टैक्स अपीलेट ट्रिब्यूनल (ITAT) ने एक व्यापारी को आंशिक राहत दी है। ट्रिब्यूनल ने कहा कि पत्नी के क्रेडिट कार्ड से किए गए और बाद में चुकाए गए बिज़नेस ट्रैवल खर्चों को अपने आप डिसअलाउ नहीं किया जा सकता। टैक्स डिपार्टमेंट ने पेरिस और रूस की बिज़नेस ट्रिप के लिए पत्नी के कार्ड से हुए 6.42 लाख रुपये के खर्चों को डिसअलाउ कर दिया था।
