Supreme Court to Hear Pleas Against Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar Today

The Supreme Court is set to hear petitions challenging the functioning of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. The pleas seek an SIT probe against him and demand the nationwide special intensive revision of electoral rolls be declared illegal. This comes after reports indicated that two election commissioners had previously raised objections to the revision process. The court has previously allowed the revision process in Bihar but took a more active role in West Bengal, assigning scrutiny to tribunals.
