Cabinet Secretary Didn't Act On Election Commissioners' Complaint: RTI

An RTI query has revealed that the Cabinet Secretariat did not take action on complaints filed by two Election Commissioners against a senior official. The secretariat stated that the complaints were sent in their 'personal capacity' and lacked official communication from the entire Election Commission. Election Commissioners Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Vivek Joshi had written to Cabinet Secretary T.V. Somanathan regarding the conduct of Senior Deputy Election Commissioner Manish Garg. The complaints alleged that Garg issued orders on work distribution without consulting senior officials, violating the Chief Election Commissioner Act.

एक आरटीआई (RTI) सवाल से पता चला है कि कैबिनेट सचिवालय ने दो चुनाव आयुक्तों द्वारा एक वरिष्ठ अधिकारी के खिलाफ की गई शिकायतों पर कोई कार्रवाई नहीं की। सचिवालय ने कहा कि शिकायतें उनके 'निजी क्षमता' में भेजी गई थीं और उनमें पूरे चुनाव आयोग की ओर से कोई आधिकारिक संचार नहीं था। चुनाव आयुक्त सुखबीर सिंह संधू और विवेक जोशी ने वरिष्ठ उप चुनाव आयुक्त मनीष गर्ग के आचरण के संबंध में कैबिनेट सचिव टी.वी. सोमनाथन को पत्र लिखा था। शिकायतों में आरोप लगाया गया था कि गर्ग ने मुख्य चुनाव आयुक्त अधिनियम का उल्लंघन करते हुए वरिष्ठ अधिकारियों से सलाह किए बिना काम के बंटवारे पर आदेश जारी किए।
