Nasscom: Immigration, Skilled Talent Mobility Are Distinct Issues

The IT industry body Nasscom has stated that immigration and skilled talent mobility are separate issues, pushing back against the US Department of Labor's move to temporarily bar IT companies from the Permanent Labor Certification (PERM) program. Nasscom clarified that the H-1B visa program has been used to address short-term skill gaps in the US. Indian tech firms have reduced their reliance on H-1B visas while expanding local hiring and building a strong domestic workforce. The body expressed confidence in their continued compliance with US regulations.
