Terek Sandpipers Spotted At Pallikaranai Marshland

Birders in Chennai have spotted a pair of Terek sandpipers for the first time at the Pallikaranai marshland. This sighting increases the wetland's documented bird species count to 205. The Terek sandpiper undertakes a long journey from its breeding grounds in Finland, Russia, and Ukraine to spend winters in Chennai. Additionally, grey-headed lapwings have arrived nearly 20 days early, and unusual numbers of greater and lesser sand plovers and common redshanks have also been recorded.

चेन्नई के पल्लीकरनई दलदल में पहली बार टेरेक सैंडपाइपर पक्षियों का जोड़ा देखा गया है। इससे यहाँ पक्षियों की प्रजातियों की संख्या बढ़कर 205 हो गई है। ये पक्षी फिनलैंड, रूस और यूक्रेन से सर्दियों में चेन्नई आते हैं। इसके अलावा, ग्रे-हेडेड लैपविंग भी करीब 20 दिन पहले आ गए हैं। ग्रेटर और लेसर सैंड प्लोवर और कॉमन रेडशैंक की भी असामान्य संख्या देखी गई है।
