Psychopathy Linked To Frequent Gossip, New Study Finds

Times of India · science

A recent study published in Behavioral Sciences has identified psychopathy as the strongest predictor of frequent gossip. Researchers surveyed 516 adults, examining traits from the 'Dark Tetrad' including narcissism, Machiavellianism, and everyday sadism. While all four traits were individually linked to more gossip, psychopathy showed the strongest association when accounting for overlap. The study suggests personality traits explain a significant portion of why people engage in gossip, with different traits correlating to different motives behind the conversations.
