Seven individuals, including four Indians residing in Canada and three in Pakistan, have been apprehended for allegedly defrauding Canadian banks. The group reportedly used artificial intelligence to create fake passports and photographs for synthetic identities. Pakistani authorities announced the arrests in Lahore on October 19, revealing that the Canadian-based Indians prepared the AI-generated documents, which were then used by their Pakistani counterparts to open bank accounts remotely. Credit cards were issued and subsequently maxed out before being discarded, leading banks to discover the fraud during loss investigations.
