China's Yuan Hits Four-Year High Against Dollar After Fed Holds Rates

China's yuan reached a four-year peak against the US dollar and its trading partners on Thursday, following the US Federal Reserve's decision to maintain interest rates. The onshore yuan strengthened to 6.6620 per dollar, its highest since June 2022, and has gained approximately 5% against the dollar this year. The People's Bank of China set a stronger daily midpoint, though it remained weaker than market expectations, indicating managed appreciation. The yuan's trade-weighted value also reached its highest level since July 2022.
