Simon Harmer has set a new South African record for the highest individual score by a No. 9 or lower batsman against Australia, scoring 82. This surpasses Dale Steyn's previous record of 76, achieved in 2008. Harmer's innings, featuring 10 fours and a six, was crucial in helping South Africa recover from a precarious position. He formed a significant 183-run partnership for the eighth wicket with captain Temba Bavuma, who remained unbeaten on 179, guiding the team to a total of 425-9 before declaration.
