The Indian Coast Guard successfully averted the capsize of a foreign chemical tanker, MT Seagull 9, off Paradip coast in Odisha. The Belize-flagged vessel experienced engine failure and ballast tank flooding, causing it to tilt dangerously. An ICG damage control team boarded the unstable tanker and used de-flooding pumps to arrest the leakage and stabilize the ship. The operation also involved pollution control measures, and the tanker was later taken under tow for repairs.
